The primary aim of this series is FUN. While we will have a high standard of racing (rest assured, Hobart has some very fast Trackies), this series is all about getting out there and having a go.

The series is supported by Northern Physiotherapy Services

Series Points

Racing
  • Racing will be on Friday night, at Newtown Track. The track is around the Newtown Cricket Oval, next to the Creek Rd Netball Centre.
  • Race Entry will be $5. Riders MUST be Cycling Australia (CA) licenced to race. Spectating is free (of course!), so bring your friends, families and anyone else you can think of.
  • Each night will have a formal program, starting at 6 or 6:30pm, and running till approximately 7:30pm. This program will contain one Sprint event, one Endurance event, and one or two other events such as Handicaps, Scratch races, etc.
  • There will also be practice time before formal racing begins.
  • The Sprint events may include such races as a Kilo or 500m TT, Sprint Derby, Match Sprint or flying 200.
  • The Endurance events may include such events as Points races, Miss'N'Out, or Scratch races
  • The program will vary from week to week.

Grading
  • There will be at least two grades
  • Riders will be self graded, subject to officials approval
  • There will be club officials to assist with grading if you wish
  • If a rider wishes to go up or down grades throughout the series, there will be a mechanism to do this and maintain your points
Points
  • Points will be given for placing in events (5, 3, 2, 1).
  • Riders will also receive 10 start points for each night.
  • There will be points for Special Events such as team races, Madisons etc.

Special Events
  • Throughout the series, a number of special events will be held in conjunction with normal racing. These may include Madison-style events, team races such as Teams or Italian pursuits, or Kierens.

Safety
  • All riders will be required to be assessed as to their knowledge of safe track riding.
  • Any riders who have not ridden on the track before will be assisted in gaining this knowledge. It's not hard, there are a few simple rules

Road Bikes
  • There will be chances for Road Bikes to be ridden on the track during practice sessions, and there will be special events for them if there is sufficient interest.

Dan de Groot came out of hibernation to smash the time trial course with a blistering 18:54, relegating JD to 2nd place yet again even though he beat his own time by 5 sec on a slightly longer course
